Using Coffee for Other Than Drinking: 15 Plus Uses
As many of us love to drink coffee in its brewed state, there are some other uses for coffee in a brewed form as well as the "waste" that is produced as in used coffee grounds. Some other uses are practical and many well known but included in this list are some not so well known uses and many I don't recommend but they are on this list for, in my opinion, entertainment value.
Here is the list with links to pages explaining the use in detail. Comment on if you have practiced some of these unique methods to get more out of the coffee bean than its main intended use.
USES FOR COFFEE OTHER THAN DRINKING:
1. Dying jeans to achieve an antiquated or vintage look
2. Used Coffee Grounds used in mulch or compost
3. Developing film in the photography darkroom. ( I saw this on Mythbusters)
5. Coffee used as an ink for writing.
6. Spa Treatments ( these go alittle far for me to try)
7. Fuel
8. Ingredients in foods
I have used brewed coffee in chocolate cake recipes before and I have heard of other pastry chefs use it in brownie recipes.
9. Printer Ink that uses coffee.
10. Including coffee to make fireplace logs.
11. Using coffee to stop bleeding ( this is one I don't recommend and one of the commentors didn't either read this one)
12. Biodiesel fuel from used or processed coffee cherries.
13. Coffee grounds as a soil conditioner or amendment.
14. Coffee tie-dyed t-shirts.
15. IBS: Irritable Bowel Syndrome
So here are 15 plus uses for coffee other than drinking. I thought this was a fun list and had no idea that these things could be done with a form of coffee. Do you have any uses that I did not mention here. Leave a comment.
